"When I Rule the World" is a single by American recording artist LIZ. It was produced by SOPHIE and released on July 17, 2015. The music video for the song was released on July 28, 2015, along with a behind-the scenes video exactly one month later.
Background[]
LIZ met SOPHIE at the Mad Decent studio in Los Angeles, California, with help from Diplo. SOPHIE was looking for vocalists for some of her tracks, so they got together in the studio and began working on another song. While there, she played LIZ the unfinished version of "When I Rule the World", which LIZ ultimately decided to work on. LIZ and SOPHIE created several different versions of the song before at last settling on the final track.[1]
It was reported by The Guardian that Britney Spears wanted the song for her album but LIZ was so attached to the song that she fought for it.
"When I Rule the World" debuted in an advertisement for the Samsung Galaxy S6 in June 2015.[2]
